Course: Cannabis Weed Honey
Keyword: Cannabis Weed Honey
Yield: 1 Cup

Equipment

  • 1 Sheet pan and parchment
  • 1 Strainer or cheesecloth
  • 1 Funnel
  • 1 Bowl or large measuring cup
  • 1 Jar or bowl to store the coconut oil
  • 1 Weed Grinder
  • 1 Double-boiler, slow cooker, saucepan, etc.

Materials

  • 1/2 Cup Ground cannabis flower
  • 1 Cup Honey

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 240°F. Place the cannabis on your baking sheet and spread evenly. If you have large flowers, break them by hand to smaller chunks.
  • Cover with parchment and place in oven for 35-45 minutes. Be sure to mix (or just shake the pan) every 10 minutes while it bakes.
  • Grind the cannabis to a medium/fine course. It's ok to use entire plant, just the flower, a little bit of both — this is all a matter of preference. Anything small enough to fit through the strainer will end up in your product so be careful grinding.
  • Combine the cannabis and honey in a double boiler to apply gentle heat on the stove top.
  • Add cannabis and simmer. Add in your coarsely ground cannabis product. Maintain low heat (between 160ºF and - never exceeding - 200ºF) and let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Do not boil.
  • Strain and store the Honey. Set the funnel on top of a jar and line it with cheesecloth. Pour the honey (once cooled) over the cheesecloth funnel and allow it to strain freely. Take your time, honey is thicker than butter

Notes

Step 1 Note: When grinding, anything that fits through the cheesecloth will eventually end up the in product. Be extra careful not to grind too fine.
Step 5 Note: Be careful during the simmer, overcooking will destroy the cannabinoid.
